Speed dating study
Most speed dating sessions today require pre-registration with a credit card.
Typically, speed dating sessions are held at a club, restaurant or other venue and people speak to each other in groups of two while enjoying a drink or some food.
The card included questions about physical attractiveness and personality, as well as a series of statements like “I would like this person for a one-night stand.” Participants rated the statements on a 7-point scale.
Overall, women were rated as more appealing than men for all relationship types that involved sexual contact (“one-night stand,” “booty call,” “friends with benefits” and “long-term relationship”), but were rated appealing than men for friendships.
Narcissism also increased the chances of women being chosen for long-term dating.
Machiavellianism was correlated with a lower chance of being chosen as a short-term relationship partner.
